Biography

Dr. Sanjay Gogoi is a highly accomplished urologist with over 25 years of experience in comprehensive urological practice, specializing in complex and challenging procedures. He is widely recognized for his expertise in managing urological complications and has performed over 1,000 renal transplants, consistently achieving outcomes that meet global benchmarks. Dr. Gogoi is particularly acclaimed for his work in transplanting rehabilitated bladders, including pre-transplant augmentation cystoplasty and neobladders with continent diversion. 

He also stands out for conducting one of the largest series of pediatric kidney transplants in India. Trained in robotic surgery, Dr. Gogoi has extensive experience performing robotic procedures for both benign and malignant diseases of the kidney, bladder, prostate, and adrenal glands. His areas of expertise include Retzius-sparing robotic radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy with orthotopic neobladder, and robotic kidney transplant in patients with high BMI.

In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Gogoi is renowned for his work in reconstructive urology, handling complex conditions such as urethral strictures, congenital malformations (e.g., extrophy, epispadias, hypospadias), neobladders, phalloplasties, neo-vaginas, anti-incontinence treatments, and genitourinary fistulas. He is widely recognized, both in India and internationally, for his exceptional outcomes in managing congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT), such as bladder agenesis, hypospadias, and the exstrophy-epispadias complex.

Dr. Gogoi has previously headed the departments of Urology and Renal Transplantation at prestigious institutions including Apollo Hospital (Colombo), Fortis Memorial Research Institute (Gurgaon), Manipal Hospital (Delhi), and Max Super Speciality Hospital (Dwarka). He has also rehabilitated hundreds of war victims with genitourinary trauma from Sri Lanka, the Middle East, and various countries in CIS, Africa, and the Gulf region.
